Home visits are for patients who are unable to get to the surgery for medical reasons. They are at the discretion of the doctor.

If you think you may require a home visit, please telephone before 10am if you can. The receptionist will ask for brief details of your illness to help the doctor assess priority. The doctor is very likely to telephone you back to see how best he/she can deal with your problem.

If you feel that the visit is urgent please tell the receptionist who may ask the doctor to speak to you immediately.

It is a good idea to try and put a plan together NOW of how you might arrange transport up to the surgery if you are unwell. Perhaps you could talk to your neighbours who might be willing to help you. You could also keep the telephone number of your local taxi firm next to your telephone. The local service, Dial-a-Ride may also be able to help - their telephone number is 0117 939 5525.
