Family Planning Advice is available on all methods of contraception and family planning, including emergency contraception.
Cervical Smears In Avon Health Authority women aged 25-65 are
offered a cervical smear every five years. You will be notified when your smear is due. You can make an appointment with either a practice nurse or a doctor. Please tell the receptionist that the appointment is for a smear.
Minor Surgery We have facilities to perform a wide range of minor
surgical procedures under local anaesthetic.
Antenatal Care Community midwives and doctors share the care
of women throughout pregnancy and after delivery.
Please make an appointment to see a doctor if you
become pregnant. It is recommended that all
pregnant women take a folic acid supplement in
early pregnancy - please ask for a leaflet or see
your pharmacist.
Child Care and Immunisation We encourage all parents to have their children
fully immunised. Developmental checks are carried out by health visitors and doctors at the Health Centre and at Lawrence Weston Clinic,

Specialist Clinics We run special clinics for those with asthma,
diabetes and other conditions needing regular
monitoring.
Health Promotion If you need help to stop smoking, to lose weight or
want advice about a healthy lifestyle, please make
an appointment to see one of the practice nurses.
Foreign Travel Clinic A full range of travel vaccinations is available. We are a registered Yellow Fever Centre. If you are
planning a trip abroad, please complete a travel
clinic form preferably six weeks or more before you
are due to travel. Make an appointment for the
travel clinic.
